About the Founder
Matt Kish is the founder of Tokyo Learning Lab and has more than 20 years of experience in education. His career spans leading schools in four countries, where he has served as a classroom teacher, teacher-leader, and Director of Learning. An award-winning educator, Matt has worked at leading international schools including the American School in Japan, the American School in London, and Singapore American School. His professional recognitions include selection as an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Fellow, and recipient of the New Jersey State PTA Meritorious Service Award.
Matt studied at Phillips Academy Andover, the University of Michigan, and the University of Pennsylvania, and holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from The College of New Jersey. He began his career through the prestigious Teach For America program, where his classroom was selected by the Mayor of Philadelphia to highlight teaching excellence within the school district..

When not teaching or advising clients, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter. He is an avid traveler, enjoying both city breaks and beach resorts. He is a voracious reader, coffee connoisseur, and American football fan.
